☐ found haemorrhoids in the rectum.

Results of the examination

☐ You will receive the final results in your Digital Post or by letter within 3–4 weeks.
☐ You will receive the final results at our outpatient clinic.
☐ You have been discharged and do not need any further examinations.

Discomfort or pain

You may experience side effects

If you received medicine for the examination, you may experience side effects. These may include drowsiness, tiredness, temporary forgetfulness and nausea. This is common and will pass on its own.

Practical information

Important precautions for the first 24 hours

If you have received sedative, anaesthetic or pain-relieving medicine, there are some precautions you must follow during the first 24 hours. Please note that you:

• must not drive or operate heavy machinery
• should not drink alcohol.

When to seek medical attention

Contact us if you experience heavy bleeding

During the first 3 days after the examination, please contact us if you experience:

• increasing bleeding from the rectum
• stomach pain lasting more than 3 hours
• chills
• fever over 38°C
• general discomfort and nausea

If it happens more than 3 days after the examination, please contact your own doctor or call the emergency helpline 1813 outside your doctor’s opening hours.
