New Mental Health Bispebjerg consists of 26,900 m² new buildings and will be placed next to the other large hospital project New Hospital Bispebjerg.
The ambition for the project is to create new and modern facilities for the psychiatric patients. New Mental Health Bispebjerg is an important piece in the goal to be able to offer differentiated and well-planned treatment with the patient at its centre.
The kick off of a large projectSenior project manager at New Mental Health Bispebjerg, Gert Bonde Harup says:
"It is a large scale project we are about to kick off. New Mental Health Bispebjerg is a huge construction project, which will ensure the best possible facilities for the mental health’s approx. 850 employees and approx. 90,000 annual visitors."
The project will include new buildings and facilities for the adult mental health at The Psychiatric Centre Copenhagen, which is currently spread across several sites in Copenhagen. This project will gather all functions under one roof, which will support the effort to improve a more coherent patient course.
Patients should feel expected and welcome
"The architecture and design must support a more efficient workflow, so mental health at Bispebjerg can provide a continuity of care through high quality and an attractive workplace. Buildings should also ensure that all arriving in psychiatry, feel expected and welcome, whether you the patient, relatives, staff, visitors or students," comments Martin Lund, director of mental health services.
The visions for the future buildings are also to ensure optimal facilities for research and training, knowledge sharing and the use of modern technology in the treatment of patients.
The hospital, as well as the mental health facilities, will be fully operational during the construction period. Some functions will, however, temporarily move to other sites.
